and NOT to the C's

I think they're fucked up right now because the whole roster, sans Tatum, has been mentioned in trade rumors

I don't want Harden, I hated Kyrie, and I don't want the C's to trade away all their young pieces

Somebody make an offer the Rockets can't resist

I don’t want him in Miami

I don't think anyone wants him. He's not a winner. He's a ME guy and a choker in the playoffs.

His game does not translate to playoff wins. He doesn't get the calls in the playoffs. He doesn't go to the line to get the cheap points.

Any GM of a contending team that gives up anything of decent value for him should be fired on the spot.

i felt like the harden to Miami rumors has some legs.

I was on a few group texts with HEAT fans regarding Harden and nobody seemed to excited to get him.

funny thing is that if u watch the 2012 finals, Harden was ice cold the whole series

I didn't want Kyrie and expressed those thoughts here. And we don't want Harden.

Best scorer. But I'd take Butler over him any day. That guy doesn't have the offensive talent of Harden. Not many do. But he's a grinder and a winner.

Me too. And Butler plays defense, too.

He's a great all around player.

LOVE Jimmy B

if you can buy into the HEAT culture, you become that much better of a player.

can’t see Harden buying in and playing lockdown defense

Harden and defense never go together especially now that he's more overweight and come post season he'll be sucking wind.

Harden teams have been better than Butlers pretty much his entire career when they’re both the #1s on their teams. Whatever non-quantifiable edge people want to give to Butler doesn’t change that

The heat won what, 1 playoff series from the time lebron left until last year? So from the time LeBron left, Harden Culture was superior to Heat Culture for a half decade.

heat culture is like the patriots system, works nice if you’ve got talent and the the media slurps it up w/o really being able to define it.

Here’s basically how you win in sports, build the most talented team you can. If you can get Harden w/o giving up Bam/Butler then you’re team is gonna have a way better chance of coming out of the East.

Harden Wasn’t worth giving up Herro and Duncan and draft picks

5 NBA finals appearances in a 10 year span.
6 appearances in 15 years.

not too shabby

I don't think that's a fair comparison/analogy. Butler is new to Miami. And although a weird year, he took his new team to the Finals. That team last year is what really matters as far as determining if adding Harden to it and what you have to give up in return is worth it.

If they don't have to give up key pieces? Then maybe it's worth a shot. But I don't see Houston giving up Harden for a bag of chips.

I wasn’t making that reference in regard to Butler/harden, I was making it in reference to the idea the Heat culture or whatever it is would be something Harden just isn’t capable of doing. He’s been one of the best players in the league for a decade, thinking he can’t acclimate to a team committee to winning is ESPN gibberish to me.

Ok, that's somewhat fair. Except we are talking about James Harden here. Have you really followed what this guy is about? Not just on the court, but off.

He hasn't worked with any other stars. Chris Paul tried but finally gave up. Etc etc.

Guy wouldn't even agree to meet with Rockets management recently to discuss things. Ignored phone calls and texts. Showed up fat. He's a ME guy. There's plenty of evidence to suggest there is a good chance he's gonna do what he wants to do. No matter what culture he is in.

Signal/noise

I don't think the Rockets lost to the Lakers/Spurs/Warriors the last 5 years because of any issues related to Harden's character or chemistry. I think they lost to those teams because they were better at basketball.

Taking opportunity cost out of it (i.e the Heat being able to trade for other top players later), I think trading Robinson/Herro for Harden would give them more equity to win over the next 2-3 years.

Funny because everything people are saying about Harden is everything they said about Butler before he went to Miami. I'm sure I could find threads and link them but don't think there is much debate he had that stigma as well. When AD got dealt to the Lakers he was a "bad stats on a good team guy" and they gave up too much.

People just kinda run wild w/ this stuff rather than focus on substance imo, just kinda the culture around sports media and media in general.
